Easter Entertainment

I've always enjoyed the Easter holidays. Especially as a kid. My parents would hide our Easter baskets around the house, and before church, we spent the morning hunting down our basket. After church, I loved going to my grandparents' house and hunting eggs. It was always a race around the backyard to see who could get the most first. One year, Nanny decided we were getting a bit on the older side of egg hunting and decided that we had to work in pairs. My arm was tied to my cousin Gary's arm. That was...um...interesting. However, our Easter festivities ended 2 years ago. My mom decided that since we were all adults, Megan and I were married, I had my first kid, and Megan was pregnant that we no longer got Easter baskets. That was a sad day. I will clarify that we weren't hunting eggs at this point anymore. We had outgrown that a few years prior to being married. I think college was the cut off for egg hunts. Yes, we were well beyond the point that most people stop, but we insisted and our parents obliged.

Last year, Megan and I decided to start a new tradition. She and I are taking over Easter dinner. We started the new generation of our family, and so far have the only kids, so we figured it only made sense for us to start hosting the Easter fun. Last year, we hosted it at my house. This year, we moved it to Mom and Dad's house because their house holds more people a bit more comfortably. Next year, I think Megan would like to host it at her house if we can get everyone to make the trek to Houston.

This year, we got to do egg hunts again! Megan, Brian, and I didn't hunt eggs. Aidan, Luke, and Greyson did. And it was fun in a whole different way. They got 2 Easter baskets/bags a piece too. One from Grammy and Papa and another from Mommy and Daddy. It rained early Sunday morning, so we didn't think we would get to do an egg hunt with the boys, but since we waited until after their nap in the afternoon, the sun came out and cleared up just enough for us to go ahead and let them outside. This year was the beginning of a new generation of Easter traditions and I'm so looking forward to continuing it for years to come. If my kids are like me, we have another 20 years to look forward to.

Opening up Easter bags from Grammy and Papa.

Aidan loves his new "choo choo" that Grammy and Papa gave him. On Monday, it held his attention for 45 minutes straight. That is an amazing feat of time for my child's attention to be held.

Greyson found the candy eggs.

So did Luke.

Uncy B and his nephews. He's such a lucky uncle. :)
