5

Aidan,
Today you are five. I cannot believe how quickly time has flown. It seems like only yesterday you were toddling around, but now you are five. How can that be?

You are the most precious of children. Exasperating at times, yes, but so precious. I love your inquisitive mind and your constant desire to know everything about everything. You tell me you want to be a scientist when you grow up. I think you'll make a great one.

Today, at 5, you love reading, playing video games, building, angry birds, super heroes - especially Batman, being outside, wrestling with Daddy, Rio, Winnie the Pooh, and Jesus. I'm sure there's plenty I'm forgetting, but these are your big ones.

Your baby days are long gone. Your preschool days are coming to a close. I miss those days, but I am also looking forward to seeing who you become as you enter your childhood. I love watching your eyes light up with each new discovery. You can hardly stand to wait to share it with everyone you meet, and new discoveries are soon to be a daily thing as you enter Kindergarten.

You love your friends and family passionately. I hope you never lose that.

You hate nicknames. You tell everyone, "That's not my name. It's Aidan!" if they even try to call you something else. And Daddy wants to give you a nickname so badly, but you won't let him.

I can't believe you are five. I love you more than you'll ever know.

With all my heart,
Mommy
